Meta instant forms vs landing pages: which converts better in India?
Instant forms are cheaper per lead and worse per rupee, most of the time. Here's the decision rule we use across client accounts.
Run a Meta lead campaign in India and you will be asked to choose: collect the lead inside Facebook or Instagram with an instant form, or send the click to a landing page on your own site. Almost everyone picks the instant form, because the cost per lead is visibly lower. That is the wrong comparison.
Instant forms win on cost per lead. That is the whole case for them.
An instant form pre-fills the name, phone and email Meta already holds. Two taps and it is done, no page load, no typing. Friction collapses and so does cost per lead — commonly by 40 to 60% against a landing page for the same creative and audience.
The same collapse in friction is exactly why the leads are worse. A person who has not read anything about you, has not seen a price and has not left the app has invested nothing. Some of them do not clearly remember filling the form when you call.
Landing pages cost more per lead and usually less per customer
A landing page makes the visitor load a page, read something and type their details. Every one of those steps loses people. The ones who survive have chosen to be there. They have seen your work, your positioning and often your price band before they became a lead.
The rule we apply
- Low ticket, simple offer, decision made quickly — instant form. Restaurant offers, salon bookings, a free dental check-up.
- High ticket, considered purchase, needs proof before contact — landing page. Interior fit-outs, cosmetic dentistry, jewellery commissions, anything above roughly ₹1 lakh.
- Brand new account with no data — start with instant forms to gather conversion signal fast, then move to landing pages once the pixel has something to learn from.
If you use instant forms, use the higher-intent version
Meta offers a 'higher intent' form that adds a review step before submission. It costs volume and returns quality, and most advertisers never switch it on. Add two qualifying questions on top — budget band and timeline — and an instant form starts behaving much more like a landing page.
The hybrid that usually wins
Instant form to capture, then an automated WhatsApp message within sixty seconds that links to a page showing your work, your process and your price range. You get the cheap capture and the qualification, in that order. The lead arrives on your site already interested rather than being asked to commit before they know anything.
